It's not enough to score a first date if you don't feel confident. With a few tips, you can bypass (or at least lessen) the stress of your date.
1. Stay open minded
We all have expectations about our first date, but not all those expectations will turn into reality. Go into the night open minded and see what is in store for you.
Love can be found at unexpected times in unexpected places. Sometimes, you search for something and end up with the total opposite. Instead of waiting for opportunity to come knock, go out looking for it yourself!
2. Prepare for the conversation
There is a lot to talk about on the first date. If you're scared, you might not say anything at all. Be prepared with the topics you would like to discuss, so you don't feel anxious. Remember not to bring up anything too serious on the first date. It's a good idea to stay away from talking about having children or previous relationships.
Safe topics to talk about:
- What you do for a living
- Where you grew up
- Your favorites
- Your biggest accomplishment or the thing you're most proud of
- Where you see yourself in the next 5 years
- Zodiac signs/astrology
3. Be yourself
Don't pretend to be someone else. The right person will not only recognize who you are but appreciate you for being just that. Besides, if you pretend to be something that you aren't, you'll be stuck in that persona for the entire relationship.
Don't brag. Before you talk about something, make sure it is something that your date wants to hear all about. Don't bring up the numerous expensive things you can afford in an effort to look better. Be careful not to talk about yourself too much, either. Give your date time to equal talk about themselves.
4. Put yourself in good mood
Do something that you enjoy. Lift your spirits. Dress in clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident. If you look and feel your best before your date, you will naturally be more confident.
This includes taking care of yourself on a daily basis:
5. Be open to the dating experience
Think of your date as an experiment. It might go well, and it might not. Stay relaxed and remember that there are other fish in the sea. If this date ends badly, you can always go on another one with someone else.
Happy dating!
