5 Best Brunch Places in the City

Does the idea of a day date suggest that your chances of moving up the totem pole from friend zone to significant other are slim to none? While the common belief was that day dates are for friends, that's not necessarily true when you live in the city that never sleeps. New York City is filled with day time activities that are definitely date material.

Take brunch dates, for example. They're perfect after a night out with your friends, because you and your date can both sleep in, and enjoy a delicious breakfast without the pressure of a nighttime date.

To get you thinking about your next brunch plan, here is a list of five restaurants in the city that serve exquisite brunch you'll be dying to take your partner to.

  1. The Spotted Pig
  2. Located in West Village, this popular location has an incredible brunch and has been featured at number 55 on Time Out New York's "100 Best restaurants in NYC." Be prepared to wait, because this British restaurant gets crowded quickly, and for good reason.
  3. Poco
  4. What's more popular with hipsters than brunch? Bottomless brunch! Poco is among the best bottomless brunch spots in the city. Located in Alphabet City, this hot brunch spot is bound to make your taste buds and your belly happy.
  5. Prune
  6. Located in East Village, this classy little store front looks nothing like a brunch spot and can be easily ignored, but we're here to tell you, that that pink awning adorning a plain storefront, should not be passed by. While very tiny inside, this restaurant serves BIG flavor and packs it in when it comes to brunch, and has options for those who are vegan, gluten-free and are trying the Paleo diet. What impresses us most about this cozy brunch spot is it's 11 variations of Bloody Marys!
  7. Locanda Verde
  8. This restaurant is a personal favorite and while a tad pricy, it's rustic cozy interior and delicious food makes it well worth the expense. Stop by Tribeca's best kept secret, and you might even get to see the owner, Robert DeNiro!
  9. Lavo
  10. A night club located on Madison Avenue in Midtown is not where you would expect to find one of the city's best brunches. That's why Lavo is so unique - you can go to brunch, dinner and then out clubbing all in one location! This pricy upscale brunch spot, is not for the faint of heart. Yes, you can get Nutella-stuffed croissants for 12 dollars, but that's probably one of the cheapest items on the menu. While this menu is pricy and not your typical brunch spot, it does have many unique menu items and is definitely a place you're going to want to visit, whether for brunch, dinner or to dance the night away.

While brunch is not a new concept, its place in the dating world is one that should be considered! Take a look at the above-mentioned menus, or find a few new places of your own and we guarantee you'll have a great time with your significant other — Bon Appetit!
