When every date ends up being the same old, dinner and a movie, it gets to a point where you don't even want to bother anymore. It's so typical and you can't even talk to your date during a movie; it's an hour and a half of sitting next to a stranger in silence - awkward!
It's time to spice up your dates! Here are some dates that are worth exploring; whether you've been in a relationship for 3 months or 3 years, we definitely recommend throwing these into your list of activities.
- Ax Throwing
There are tons of Ax throwing venues throughout New York. Essentially, you and your partner are put into a throwing cage that has a target on the other end (we suggest one person in the cage at a time for safety purposes). It's that simple! And if you get thirsty, many ax-throwing facilities are also bars, so you can enjoy an ice-cold brew with your partner.
- Ice Festival
Bryant Park ice sculptures - Ice sculptures are fascinating — artists literally take thousands of pounds of ice and carve them into beautiful sculptures using chainsaws, chisels and picks. Every year, just before Valentines day, Bryant Park hosts an Ice festival where ice-carving artists carve ice into exact replicas of Central Park's statues. This is definitely something you and your partner should check out!
- Dine in the dark
Going on a dinner date can be pretty boring and predictable, but have you ever gone on a dinner date where you have to be blindfolded? -- we didn't think so. If you enjoy a little mystery in your life, then this is the date for you! Camaje requires you to wear a blindfold when dining in their restaurant, and the menu isn't revealed until the meal has come to an end. If you have any dietary restrictions, they can be accommodated, but if you are just a picky eater, we wouldn't recommend this establishment.
- The Cliffs at LIC
If you and your partner enjoy adventure, then you should take a drive to this awesome rock climbing facility! Learn how to tie safety ropes, how to belay and how to properly harness yourself so you know you're safe. Then, the sky is (almost) the limit!
- Outdoor Movies
While we have previously mentioned how lame the standard dinner and a movie is, this is movie adventure is far from "standard." While cliché isn't always a good thing, in some instances, it can be. Take your date back in time by attending an outdoor movie. Rooftop Films has been showing indie films outdoors for nearly 15 years. As a word of advice, we definitely recommend checking their website first, as their location is always changing. So pack up your dinner and enjoy the outdoor movie experience, but don't forget to throw out your garbage when you leave!
Without a doubt, these unique date ideas will give you and your partner a night you'll never forget — Good luck and happy dating!
