Now more than ever, facial hair is starting to become more and more popular. In 2016, the Huffington Post determined that 67 percent of men have beards in New York alone. Some women love the fact that it makes a man look more masculine, but did you know that nearly half of all women would not date a bearded man? We're here to tell you what women really think about your facial hair.
1. Clean-shaven
For women who don't like any facial hair, this is the preferred look... always clean and ready to go meet her parents. While this choice is still popular, it is slowly becoming less and less frequent.
2. Patchy and messy
This look is not the favorite of most (if not all) women, we'd prefer it much more if you rocked the clean-shaven look or grow it all the way out. The patches will be covered by growth, so you will no longer notice it. If when you do grow it out, you still notice the patches, no big deal! You can either keep it or shave it off, whichever you and your partner prefer.
3. Goatee
This style really isn't too popular anymore and is definitely not a favorite amongst the ladies. But if you do decide to be rebellious and grow one anyway, more power to you! This style is great for men with rounder faces as it doesn't extend past the mouth. This means it will add some length to your face. Adding a mustache to this look with help balance out your new look.
4. Stubble
Women love stubble, not to mention, it's a good compromise. If the guy wants a beard and your woman would prefer you to shave it off, stubble can be short, medium, or long. This look is low-effort and can be maintained easily. If you're the type of person whose beard grows in patchy, we recommend you stay away from this style. It will become very noticable that you can't grow a beard.
5. Van Dyke
What's different from the goatee is that the Van Dyke has a detatched mustache and is frequently paired with a narrow chin beard that is a little longer in length than the actual mustache and goatee. Much like the goatee, women don't tend to gravitate towards this look, but it has been seen on men like Johnny Depp, Dev Patel, and Robert Downey Jr.
6. Balbo
If you have a beard in 2018, this is one women are really fond of. The Balbo, requires more maintenance and is typically trimmed and cared for almost regularly in order to keep the shape of the beard and mustache intact. Many of the younger working class prefer this beard as it gives you a mature yet clean look. Keep in mind, the cheeks must be free of hair in order to be considered a real Balbo.
7. Circle beards
Circle beards are a goatee and a mustache with hair along the sides of the mouth that connect the two together. This look is pretty common and a favorite among men because it does not require a lot of maintenance -- just a trim with a fixed trimmer and shave the cheeks and neck. This style looks good on men with any face shape, and it can be worn short to the skin or a few inches in length.
8. The full beard
This style takes the longest to grow and requires the right hair follicles to grow a great full beard. Good thing No Shave November is right around the corner. This style takes several weeks to grow and consists of complete growth over the chin, cheeks and mustache. A lot of men these days aspire to grow such a fantastic beard and it takes a special woman to love this much hair on a man's face, but if she does love it, never let her go.
9. The duck tail
The duck tail is much like a full beard. It takes a lot of time and proper hair follicles to grow but has more of a unique shape. This beard gets its name from the trimmed and tapered point that is meant to resemble a duck's tail. Before you commit to this look, consider the fact that you'll probably have to go to a barber for an initial shaping before diving right in and doing it yourself. Not many women are on board with a duck tail, but the ones that are, also like a full beard.
Ladies, keep in mind that even though you may prefer a clean-shaven or the stubble look, a man who can grow facial hair shows how patient and meticulous they can be. Caring for a beard takes a lot of time, effort and care, just like a relationship. Maybe turning down a man with a beard isn't the way to go anymore.
So next time a man with a full beard flirts with you on Pyar.com, don't send him away at the drop of a hat. Look at his beard and determine whether it's grown well, well-groomed, and overall perfect. Chances are he'll put as much effort into you as he puts in his beard!
